Bergliot Kvarnare seeks out her motifs in her surrounding Småland environment. Through her large canvases, she introduces us to nature which is, at the same time, tranquil and untamed. The play of colour nuances, highlights and shadows creates an enchanting mood to her paintings. This summer, she is exhibiting a collection of her work in the castle's View Room.
Bergliot received her art education at the renowned Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design) in Stockholm and has a long list of solo and group exhibitions behind her. She has lived and worked in Vimmerby, Småland for many years.
Bergliot received the Liljevalch Scholarship in 1994 with the motivation "A strong Nordic expressionism radiates from Bergliot Kvarnare’s paintings."
