A selection of Sam Westerholm's expressive sculptures are displayed in the castle this summer.
Sam Westerholm is originally from Finland. He came to Sweden to study, including as a special student for Bror Marklund at the Academy of Fine Arts – and stayed on. Sam has a long list of solo and group exhibitions behind him and is represented at, among others, H. M. The King's Collection, the Swedish Arts Council and the Swedish Portrait Collection, National Museum.
“The shape is the bearer of what I want to say in my pictures and sculptures. The right form is at the heart of any artwork, and gives it lasting meaning. For me, this applies to both abstract and figurative art.”
— Sam Westerholm
“Above you an eternal sky, hard but star-spangled, arched, as you stumbled on the path towards the paradise if peace.”
— Swedish poet Dan Andersson is an inspiration to Sam Westerholm
