Figurative woven textiles - Lisa Englund

  • Bosjökloster Slottsförvaltning Bosjökloster Slott & Trädgårdar Höör, Skåne County, 243 95 Sweden (se karta)

Lisa Englund's art begins in nature, where she collects plants, mosses and mushrooms with which she dyes her yarn. This organic material becomes the basis of her woven works. Her craft is slow and deliberate, a way of reclaiming time and presence, in contrast to the hectic pace of the digital age.

In Englund's weaves, we are met by a magical world where trees with shoes, mysterious beings and burning bushes are mixed with childhood memories and dreams. Her art carries a sense of search, longing and reflection – a personal visual language where fantasy and reality intertwine.

Based on contemporary feelings of meaninglessness and the idea that this meaning can be found in ‘nature,’ I try to connect with the wild around us and within us. I do this by using the forest as a foundation for my practice—gathering mushrooms and plants to dye my yarns. I see it as a way to give the material life, to transfer the magic of the forest into the yarn.
